There’s no shortage of things to do in Lake George Village. One of the most popular pastimes for visitors is strolling down Canada Street, the lively center for shopping, dining, and entertainment in town. With its walkable layout and scenic lake views, it’s easy to spend an afternoon exploring attractions like Shepard Park, Fort William Henry, and the Mystery Spot. When you stay at The Lodges at Cresthaven, you’re just minutes away from the top Lake George Village attractions.
Getting There
Canada Street, also known as Route 9, runs parallel to the southern shores of Lake George. This area serves as the central hub of the village or downtown area.
From our resort, drive a few miles down Canada Street and find parking in one of the lots or on the street. Parking fills up fast in the summer, so we recommend heading out early to snag a spot. Once you have found parking, you are within walking distance of many of Lake George Village’s top attractions, restaurants, and shops.
Stroll Along the Waterfront
Start your visit at Shephard Park and hang out along the waterfront. Here, you can relax with a picnic, enjoy a swim, cast a line for fishing, soak in the beautiful lake views, and catch seasonal events.
From the park, continue your exploration along the lakefront walkway, taking in picturesque lake views. Along the way, you’ll find exciting excursions and tours that depart from the waterfront, including Lake George Tiki Tours, Parasail Joe’s, Lake George Steamboat Company, and Lake George Waterfront Cruises.
Shop, Play, and Explore
For a little retail therapy, stop by the open-air Lake George Village Mall, just a short walk from Shepard Park. Here you’ll find unique souvenir shops, boutiques, and local artisans offering gifts and keepsakes.
Then, head over to the Lake George Mystery Spot to experience a unique phenomenon that seems to defy the laws of acoustics. Stand where the X marks the spot, start shouting, and see for yourself what happens next.
Continue your exploration at the Fort William Henry Museum to learn about the region’s rich history. Sign up for a tour and step back in time to this 18th-century fort. Then, walk across the street and play a round at Around the World Miniature Golf. Make sure to grab a sweet treat from the Pink Roof Ice Cream shop afterwards.
