The sun is shining longer, the snow is starting to melt, and the ice on the lake is beginning to thaw, which can only mean one thing, spring is right around the corner! After a winter of hibernation, many of us are ready to come out of our dens and spend much-needed time outside. Spring in the Lake George area is a special time when wildflowers bloom, and the melting of lakes and rivers offers some of the best paddling and white water rafting throughout the year. The Lodges at Cresthaven in Lake George is the perfect place to plan your spring getaway in the Adirondacks.

Whitewater Rafting

Whitewater rafting is one of the best spring activities in the Adirondacks. After the snow melts, the Hudson and Sacandaga rivers are at their fullest and are perfect for whitewater rafting. In April, rafting trips with Wild Waters Outdoor Center and Adirondack Adventures will re-open. Spring trips offer smaller crowds, comfortable weather, and higher water levels for more fun!

Spring Hiking Trails

Spring is a beautiful time of year for hiking around Lake George. Walk past colorful wildflowers, lush forests, and rushing rivers this spring. It is highly recommended to avoid hiking at higher elevations until the trails are dry; you can check the trail reports at the Department of Environmental Conservation.

Popular spring hikes around Lake George include Dean Farm Heritage Trail, Meadowbrook Preserve, and Palmer Pond Trail.

Fishing on Lake George

The Lodges at Cresthaven is situated right on the shores of Lake George. This lake is 32 miles in length and offers endless fishing opportunities for anglers. Starting April 1st, you may fish for trout and landlocked Atlantic salmon in New York. If you want to fish for northern pike, pickerel, tiger muskellunge, or walleye, you will have to wait for the first Saturday in May.
